(JUBA) – The Government of Central Equatoria State says it is working closely with the National Government to engage Ugandan authorities over what it describes as persistent incursions by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) into Kajo-Keji County.
The matter dominated discussions during the State’s Ordinary Council of Ministers meeting held in Juba on Friday and chaired by Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony.
During the session, cabinet members reviewed recent tensions involving the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF) and UPDF soldiers in parts of Kajo-Keji County.
According to the State Government, efforts are underway to coordinate with the National Government and the Government of Uganda to address the situation and prevent further escalation along the common border.
The government says it remains committed to restoring peace, stability and normal relations in the affected border communities.
Authorities are now urging all parties involved to take timely and decisive measures to ensure total calm returns to the South Sudan–Uganda border.
