(JUBA) – The Chinese Embassy in South Sudan has announced a temporary closure of its visa services as part of New Year celebrations, alongside plans to host a cultural and film event in Juba aimed at strengthening cultural exchange with South Sudanese youth.
In a public notice issued on December 26, 2025, the embassy said its visa section will be closed on Friday, January 2, 2026, to observe the New Year holiday. According to the notice, visa services will resume on Monday, January 5, 2026.
The embassy advised applicants and members of the public to plan their travel and visa related matters accordingly. It said normal operations will continue once services reopen. The embassy can be contacted through its official email address, consulate_juba@mfa.gov.cn.
In a separate announcement, the Chinese Embassy also revealed plans to host the third Chinese Culture Festival and Film Screening Event in Juba. The event is scheduled to take place on January 8, 2025, according to the embassy statement.
The embassy said the cultural festival will offer South Sudanese youth under the age of twenty five an opportunity to experience Chinese cultural traditions. Participants will also be able to watch Ne Zha, one of the most popular animated films in Chinese cinema.
The event forms part of ongoing cultural exchange activities between China and South Sudan. The embassy said it aims to promote mutual understanding and people to people relations, particularly among young people.
To encourage participation, the embassy invited interested individuals to follow its official social media account and leave comments. It said five people will be selected to attend the cultural event.
The Chinese Embassy regularly organises cultural activities in South Sudan as part of broader diplomatic and cultural engagement efforts. Embassy officials say such events help strengthen ties beyond political and economic cooperation.
