(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – The chairperson of the Yei River County Youth Association has called on young people in the county to promote unity and peaceful co existence as South Sudan approaches the year 2026.
In a message shared with Access Radio, Gaga Frank urged youth to take a positive role in strengthening peace, unity and national reconstruction, saying young people have a key responsibility in shaping the future of their communities and the country at large.
He appealed to youth and the wider community in Yei to maintain good conduct during New Year celebrations and to avoid involvement in violent gang related activities. He said peace, love and unity should guide celebrations as the county marks the arrival of 2026.
Frank also encouraged young people to look beyond the festive season and focus on practical economic solutions that can help reduce poverty in the county. He said youth should play an active role in identifying opportunities that support household incomes and community development.
He further advised young people to build a culture of investment, savings and proper financial management, noting that responsible planning is essential for long term stability and personal growth.
The youth leader cautioned against excessive spending and risky behaviour, warning that such actions can lead to serious consequences. He reminded young people that the new year will come with normal responsibilities, including school fees for children and other basic needs.
Frank concluded his message by wishing the people of Yei River County a joyful celebration and a prosperous New Year, expressing hope that 2026 will be marked by peace, responsibility and shared progress in South Sudan.
