
Chinese Embassy in South Sudan/Handout
(JUBA) – The Chinese Embassy in South Sudan has hosted a cultural festival and film screening aimed at promoting cultural exchange and friendship between the peoples of China and South Sudan.
The event held on 4 November 2025 took place at the Embassy grounds and attracted over 80 South Sudanese teenagers, including students from the Chinese Friendship Secondary School.
The festival featured the screening of the popular Chinese animated film Nezha: Birth of the Demon Child and a series of interactive cultural demonstrations, including traditional Chinese calligraphy.
Speaking during the event, Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan Ma Qiang welcomed the young participants and expressed his joy at their enthusiasm for learning about Chinese traditions. He said that culture serves as an important bridge that connects nations, even those separated by great distances.
“China and South Sudan may be thousands of miles apart, but through culture, our people are closely connected,” Ambassador Ma said. “I hope today’s event helps young South Sudanese experience the beauty of Chinese culture, deepen their understanding of China, and become young ambassadors of friendship between our two nations.”
The children were given an opportunity to learn basic Chinese calligraphy, using traditional brushes and ink. Many of them practised writing Chinese characters such as China, Peace, Security and Blessing.
The event created a lively and joyful atmosphere, filled with laughter, music and cultural exchange. Embassy staff interacted freely with the students, who said the experience helped them learn more about Chinese values and traditions.
