(JUBA) – MTN South Sudan has partnered with Chinese technology giant ZTE to host a collaborative workshop focused on advancing digital connectivity and telecommunications development in South Sudan.
The event took place on 1 August 2025 at the Imperial Plaza Hotel in Juba and brought together engineers, executives and technical experts from both organisations.
The workshop served as a platform to share ideas, explore future technologies and reflect on ongoing achievements in the country’s telecom sector.
It highlighted how the partnership between MTN and ZTE has contributed to improvements in mobile network infrastructure and customer experience.
ZTE Corporation, headquartered in Shenzhen, China, is one of the world’s leading providers of telecommunications and information technology solutions. The company supplies equipment and services to more than 160 countries and has a significant presence across Africa.
In South Sudan, ZTE has played a key role in deploying network infrastructure and providing technical training to local engineers.
Through its collaboration with ZTE, MTN South Sudan has expanded its 4G coverage and upgraded core network systems, making its services more reliable for millions of users across urban and rural areas.
The partnership has also contributed to capacity building, with ZTE supporting local staff through technical workshops and knowledge exchange programmes.
MTN South Sudan said that this ongoing relationship with ZTE supports its broader mission of connecting every South Sudanese to a digitally inclusive future.
The workshop underlined a shared commitment to innovation, teamwork, and long term investment in the country’s digital landscape.
Company officials from MTN and ZTE described the event as a symbol of mutual trust and strategic alignment, with both firms pledging to continue working together to overcome connectivity challenges in South Sudan.
