(LAINYA) – City Link Aviation Company has donated a range of school textbooks to several primary schools in Lainya County, Central Equatoria State, as part of its commitment to supporting education in local communities.
Speaking during the donation event held on Tuesday, the Chief Executive Officer of City Link Aviation, Lomude Stephen, said the initiative aims to improve the quality of learning for primary school pupils in the county. He explained that the donation forms part of the company’s efforts to give back to the community it operates in.
“This is one way for us to contribute to the future of our country by supporting education at the grassroots level,” Lomude stated.
Citylink Africa Airways provides a wide range of air logistics solutions including passenger itineraries, cargo services, private jet solutions and charter services for corporate clients, government agencies, NGOs and individual travellers.
The Commissioner of Lainya County, Robert Lasu John Morris, received the textbooks on behalf of the local government. He thanked City Link Aviation and its leadership for their support and assured that the materials would be fairly distributed across the county’s primary schools.
“I will direct the Director of Education to ensure equal distribution of these textbooks to all primary schools in Lainya,” the commissioner said.
Although the exact quantity and value of the textbooks were not disclosed, education stakeholders in the county welcomed the contribution, noting that many schools in South Sudan face critical shortages of teaching and learning materials.
The donation is expected to directly benefit hundreds of pupils by enhancing their access to essential educational resources and promoting better academic performance.
Education in rural parts of South Sudan, including Lainya County, continues to face significant challenges due to limited funding, poor infrastructure and a lack of teaching materials. Private sector contributions such as this are increasingly seen as valuable support to public education efforts.
County leaders said the hoped the donation will inspire other businesses and organisations in South Sudan to invest in education, particularly in hard to reach or underserved areas.
