(LAINYA) – A newly renovated classroom block at Logwili Primary School in Lainya County has been handed back to the community by Fin Church Aid and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), in a project aimed at restoring educational infrastructure in post conflict areas.
The official handover held on 24 July 2025 was attended by local government officials including the County Commissioner, members of parliament and community representatives.
Speaking during the ceremony, the gender officer for Fin Church Aid explained that the project is part of a broader effort to support community led recovery in areas affected by conflict.
She said the initiative was rooted in the desire to promote reconciliation, strengthen resilience and improve access to education in Lainya. The school’s facilities had deteriorated over the years due to war related damage.

The Commissioner commended the support provided by Fin Church Aid and IOM, noting that such interventions complement the work of government. He urged the development partners to continue with similar initiatives in other parts of the county.
Logwili Primary School’s head teacher said the school has long been a top performer in both academics and sports in the county. He expressed gratitude for the renovation and called on government authorities to extend further support to build on the progress made.
Emmanuel Khamis Alison, a youth leader in the area, appreciated the renovation but urged the organisations to extend their support beyond central communities to the bomas (smaller rural administrative units) where educational needs remain high.
