Lainya County Commissioner Huda Micha Laila
(LAINYA COUNTY) – A youth in Lainya County are calling on the newly appointed commissioner, Hon. Huda Mica Laila, to prioritize peace, security and youth empowerment initiatives as she assumes office.
The commissioner was officially received and installed on Tuesday at Lainya county headquarters amid a high-level reception attended by local leaders and residents.
Speaking to Access Radio, the Chairperson of the Lainya County Youth Association, Emmanuel Khamis, welcomed the new commissioner and expressed optimism about her leadership. He emphasized that restoring peace and security is critical to addressing key challenges such as food insecurity and youth unemployment in the area.
“As a youth leader, we have hope in the leadership of Commissioner Huda Laila. We want peace and security, especially given the instability caused by armed cattle keepers. We also want opportunities to engage in agriculture to tackle unemployment, as well as access to vocational training programs for young people,” Khamis said.
Khamis further called on the commissioner to promote accountability, transparency, and inclusive governance. He stressed the importance of involving young people in decision-making processes, noting that youth have historically been excluded from leadership discussions.
“We urge the commissioner to ensure youth inclusivity in decision-making. In the past, young people have often been left out, and we believe their involvement will strengthen leadership and development in the county,” he added.
Local youth leaders say they remain hopeful that the new administration will address their concerns and create opportunities for sustainable development in Lainya County.
