(JUBA) – South Sudan Media Leaders Recognised Among Africa’s Top Women
Yesterday, Josephine Achiro, Chairperson of the Association for Media Development in South Sudan (AMDISS), received the prestigious Awards for Africa’s 100 Most Influential Women from Ayaa Irene, Director of AMDISS and Veronica Lucy, Director of AMWISS.
The awards were presented following the recognition of the two media leaders at last week’s 4th Edition of the awards ceremony in Kigali, Rwanda.
The event celebrated outstanding African women who have made significant contributions across various professional fields.
Speaking after receiving the awards, Josephine Achiro expressed her gratitude:
“I am deeply honoured to receive these accolades from two remarkable women in media. These awards are not just personal milestone. They show that female journalists in South Sudan are being recognised across the region.”
Achiro highlighted that the awards serve as inspiration for young women in journalism and as a reminder that their voices matter:
“This international honour confirms that our work is being seen, heard and valued beyond our borders.”
The awards confirm the status of the recipients as members of the elite group of African female icons, known as the ‘SHE ACHIEVERS NETWORK’.
They acknowledge the professional achievements and contributions of these women across Africa, AND showcase South Sudan’s growing role in promoting women’s leadership in media.
