(MOROBO COUNTY) – Authorities in Morobo County, Central Equatoria State convened on Wednesday to review their 2026 work plans and discuss effective strategies to address challenges affecting the local population and development initiatives in the area.
The meeting was chaired by the commissioner Joseph Mawa Okuba and attended by heads of departments and Payam directors. Participants reviewed reports, assessed progress, and discussed challenges in line with the six priority pillars of the State government.
Key areas of focus during the meeting included security, economic empowerment, education, health, airstrip development and infrastructure.
The Acting Executive Director, Mr. Ezibon Gele, called for the Commissioner’s support in addressing issues such as work interference, encroachment, and other challenges hindering development in the county.
Directors from all five Payams emphasized the need for adequate staffing and improved security to facilitate market operations and enhance local revenue generation.
Paramount Chief Naphatali Yakani urged county staff to collaborate closely with security agencies and traditional leaders to ensure stability and progress.
In his remarks, Commissioner Joseph Mawa Okuba appreciated participants for their open and constructive discussions. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening service delivery and advancing development programs across the county.
He also cautioned county staff against promoting tribalism, warning that any individual found engaging in such practices would face dismissal.
