(MOROBO COUNTY) – Morobo County is preparing to establish its first functional vocational training institute since the 2016 conflict that displaced many residents into neighbouring countries.
The renovation work is set to begin next week in Kanyara, with support from the United Nations Refugee Agency.
The project is aimed at helping young people who are returning home after years spent in refugee camps, where many were unable to continue their studies or gain employment skills.
The institute is expected to provide training in practical trades that can help them build stable livelihoods within their communities.
The County Commissioner, Charles Data Bullen, visited the site together with a group of contractors to assess preparations.
He said the institute will play an important part in rebuilding community life by helping young people contribute to local development.
He said the initiative represents a new beginning for many families who have returned after displacement.
He stressed that the county hopes to support young people to gain skills that will enable them to work, start businesses or take part in community rebuilding efforts.
Commissioner Data encouraged the contractors to begin the renovation work without delay and to follow the quality standards required by the United Nations Refugee Agency.
County engineer David Abusala has been placed in charge of supervising the renovation.
Local leaders say the institute will provide hope and practical support for youths who have faced hardship during and after the conflict.
According to the County Press Unit, many households in Morobo County continue to rebuild their lives after years of instability, and the project is expected to provide a sense of progress and direction.
The vocational training institute is expected to open once renovations and equipment installation are completed, although a specific opening date has not yet been announced.
