(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – Parents in Yei River County are increasingly getting concerned as they continue to wait for their children’s Primary 8 (P8) examination results, with frustration steadily mounting.
The delay has raised serious concerns about students’ futures, as some risk missing opportunities to enroll in secondary school.
Medina Kiden a parent in Yei town told Access Radio on Wednesday that, the process of sending index numbers to Juba for verification has been particularly challenging due to a lack of funds and digital mobile network in the county.
“What is most painful is that we, as parents, know that our children’s results have not yet reached Yei,” she said. “There is also the issue of accessing digital mobile internet services to print results or send index numbers to Juba. Who will send them? Where will the money come from? Many parents in the community do not understand this process, including whether approval from headteachers is required or what such approval would indicate about a child’s performance.”
She added that the uncertainty is especially difficult given the financial demands of enrolling a child in secondary school.
“Senior One registration requires many items. It is risky to pay all these requirements before the results are released. What if a parent completes registration, buys uniforms, and later the child does not pass? What will happen then?” she asked.
Meanwhile the County Education Director Mr. Philip Taban, said authorities are still waiting for the official release of the results from the education ministry.
“We are still waiting for the results. The ministry is working to finalize and send them to us,” he said. “We apologize for the earlier announcement made over the radio. We urge the public to remain patient as we continue to follow up. The results are expected soon.” He said
He emphasized the need for parents and students to remain patient and adherence to official government procedures.
“This is our country, and we must follow its rules and regulations. The delay should not lead us to act outside the proper procedures. Once the results arrive, the necessary steps will be taken,” he added.
