(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – Commissioner Emmanuel Taban Seme today received Joseph Ayik, the Resident Judge of Yei River County, during a courtesy visit at the County Commissioner’s Office.
During the meeting, the Resident Judge briefed the Commissioner on the ongoing activities and operations of the Court. He highlighted key achievements, prevailing challenges, and priority areas requiring urgent attention to ensure the smooth and effective administration of justice within the County.
Among the major challenges outlined were limited mobility, inadequate and unreliable power supply, and the need for infrastructural upgrades to improve service delivery and ensure timely hearings.
In response, Hon. Emmanuel Taban Seme commended the Resident Judge and the judiciary for their vital role in upholding the rule of law, maintaining peace, and promoting social order in the County. He emphasized that a functional and efficient judicial system is fundamental to good governance and sustainable development.
The Commissioner further assured his full commitment to working closely with relevant stakeholders and partners to address the highlighted challenges. He particularly underscored the importance of holding regular court sessions to prevent case backlogs and reduce overcrowding in detention facilities, as previously experienced.
