South Sudan has taken a step into space science education. On Wednesday, 10 September 2025, the Honourable Minister of General Education launched the Space Science Education Programme for schools at the Mayardit Academy for Space Sciences.
The programme aims to introduce students to space science and technology. It will help young people learn about science, mathematics, and technology through practical activities. Students will get a chance to study space, robotics, and experiments that show how science works.
Prof. John Akec, an education expert, said the programme is important for South Sudan. He added that it will inspire students to take up careers in science and technology.
The Ministry of General Education said the programme will train teachers, develop school curricula, and connect students with experts locally and abroad.
