(Juba) – The Governor of the Bank of South Sudan (BoSS), Hon. Dr. Addis Ababa Othow, on Thursday visited the construction site of the new Currency Center located at the bank’s main branch in Juba.
He was accompanied by First Deputy Governor Hon. Samuel Yanga Mikaya and Second Deputy Governor Hon. Rita Nyankiir Akoon.
The inspection took place on June 26, 2025, and included a guided tour of multiple departments within the bank’s main office.
The delegation engaged with staff and branch officials from various departments, such as Banking Operations, National Payment Systems, Currency, Treasury, Internal Audit, Human Resources, and ICT.

The new Currency Center, which began construction in 2024, is part of ongoing efforts by the BoSS to improve the country’s financial infrastructure.
According to officials, the project is progressing well and remains on schedule for completion before the end of 2025.
The facility spans 900 square meters and is designed to enhance currency handling and secure financial transactions. It will include more than 40 offices and a high security vault.
The center is expected to support day to day banking operations, including currency storage, processing, and distribution, as well as strengthen internal security and transparency.
Governor Othow emphasized the strategic importance of the new Currency Center, noting that it will contribute to greater financial stability and improve the bank’s ability to respond to market demands and manage monetary policy. He also stressed that the project is being implemented in line with modern banking and security standards.
The cost of the construction project was not disclosed during the inspection but the BoSS leadership has expressed confidence in the timely completion of the center and its potential to positively impact currency management and public confidence in the banking system.
