(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – The State Ad-Hoc Committee established by H.E. Emmanuel Adil Anthony, Governor of Central Equatoria State, to assess the Yei Electricity Power Station has officially briefed the Hon. Commissioner of Yei River County, Emmanuel Taban Seme, on its comprehensive report and findings following the completion of its assignment.
The Committee, constituted through a Gubernatorial Order dated Thursday, 5th February 2026, was mandated to conduct a thorough technical assessment of the facility and submit its report to the Governor within one week.
During the briefing, the Hon. Commissioner commended the Committee for the timely execution of its duties in strict adherence to the Governor’s directives. He applauded the professionalism and diligence demonstrated throughout the assessment process.
Hon. Emmanuel Taban Seme noted that the people of Yei River County are eager to witness tangible progress toward the restoration and full functionality of the Yei Electricity Power Station. He emphasized that reliable electricity remains a critical pillar for economic recovery, improved service delivery, and sustainable community development.
The Commissioner further highlighted the prolonged challenges faced by residents and businesses due to the absence of a public power utility in the County since 2016, when conflict rendered the power station non-operational.
He expressed sincere appreciation to the State Government under the leadership of H.E. Emmanuel Adil Anthony for prioritizing the electricity sector at this crucial time. He described the assessment exercise as a significant and commendable step toward revitalizing essential public infrastructure in Yei River County.
