Equatoria Tower
(JUBA) — The Central Equatoria State Government has firmly rejected circulating claims alleging that the Equatoria Tower has been sold, describing the reports as false and misleading.
This follows a consultative meeting between an ad hoc committee tasked with reviewing the partnership agreement involving UAP Old Mutual Group of East Africa and Acting Governor Paulino Lukudu Obede. The committee briefed the governor on recent developments surrounding the joint venture.
In a statement issued after the meeting, the government expressed concern over what it termed a deliberate misinformation campaign spreading on social media. Officials said the allegations of a sale are baseless and driven by individuals with ulterior political motives.
“The Government categorically rejects these claims and urges the public to disregard such unfounded reports,” the statement read.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to responsible governance and emphasized their constitutional mandate to protect public assets. The government noted that safeguarding state property remains a priority for both present and future generations.
Officials further confirmed that engagement with UAP Old Mutual Group of East Africa will continue through the State Investment Authority to address any concerns related to the property. The review process, they added, will be conducted with a focus on transparency, accountability, and the best interests of the public.
