Juba Meeting Targets Gangs and Theft/PHOTO CREDITS: County Press, Juba
(JUBA) – Authorities in Central Equatoria have agreed on stronger security measures to address rising crime and public safety concerns in Juba, with a focus on gang activity, theft and land disputes.
The agreement followed a high level meeting in Juba on Thursday, where officials reviewed the security situation in the state and outlined priority actions. Key concerns included organised criminal groups, motorcycle theft linked to so called Toronto gangs, drug abuse and ongoing cases of land grabbing.
Officials said security agencies will increase coordination and step up efforts to respond to these challenges. The meeting also assessed the performance of security forces operating in Juba and the wider state, with the aim of improving protection for residents.
Authorities called on the public to remain alert and to cooperate with law enforcement by reporting suspicious activity. They said community support is essential in efforts to restore order and reduce crime.
The discussions brought together senior figures from the national and state levels, including representatives of the police, city authorities and county administration.
The presence of multiple agencies was described as part of a coordinated approach to stabilise the capital.
