(JUBA) – The United States Ambassador to South Sudan, Michael J. Adler, has reiterated his call on the country’s political leaders and transitional government to take concrete steps toward lasting peace and stability.
Ambassador Adler emphasized that prioritizing peace and stability would create a conducive environment for the delivery of humanitarian assistance to affected populations, while also fostering investment and development opportunities across the country.
He made the remarks on Tuesday during a courtesy meeting with the Minister of Trade and Industry, Atong Kuol Manyang.
Adler further urged the government to ensure transparent and accountable management of public revenue to address urgent civilian needs, including the payment of civil servants’ salaries and tackling rising inflation.
In response, Minister Atong Manyang said the government remains committed to advancing peace and mobilizing resources through local production and trade. She added that efforts are underway to address salary delays and strengthen public financial management.
The minister also called on foreign diplomats to encourage investors and traders from their respective countries to explore opportunities in South Sudan, noting that increased investment would help create jobs and boost the local economy.
