(JUBA) — On Tuesday this week, the Central Equatoria State Security Committee carried out the incineration of confiscated harmful alcoholic spirits. This action was taken in line with a gubernatorial order issued by Governor Augustino Jadalla Wani last year.
The incineration took place after a meeting of the Security Committee, which was chaired by His Excellency Gen. Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani, Governor of Central Equatoria State. The event occurred at the Rajaf Payam headquarters in Juba County.
As part of a broader initiative to maintain public order and protect public health, the Security Committee supervised the burning of numerous boxes of banned alcoholic spirits, which had been confiscated from various locations within Juba City and Juba County.

Leon Abe Brown, the State Minister for Local Government and Law Enforcement, commented on the matter:
“We cannot allow these substances to destroy the future of our children. If anyone comes across individuals involved in the production or sale of these banned products, they should report them to their local council or relevant State authorities,” he urged.
Emmanuel Tete Ezbon, the Commissioner of Juba County, underscored the serious health risks posed by consuming these illicit spirits. He also called on other county commissioners across Central Equatoria State to enforce the Gubernatorial Order.
Additionally, he directed all shops and bars to comply with the directive and emphasized the importance of vigilance in enforcing the ban and ensuring the destruction of confiscated alcohol.

“These spirits are contributing to the destruction of our youth and causing severe health issues. That is why the Governor ordered their ban. After confiscating them, we secured them, and today we are destroying them,” said Hon. Tete.
Thiik Thiik Mayardit, the Deputy Mayor for Finance and Administration of Juba City Council, reaffirmed the city’s commitment to upholding the order.
“We want to make it clear that these alcoholic spirits will not be sold within our jurisdiction. They are harmful to the health of our citizens,” he declared.
