(JUBA) – A funeral service for Ambassador Lumumba Makelele Nyajok was held in Juba on Saturday, attended by senior government officials, diplomats, colleagues, family members and members of the public.
Speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly, H.E. Jemma Nunu Kumba, addressed the gathering and emphasised the importance of national unity and the role of peace in addressing South Sudan’s challenges.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Ambassador Monday Semaya K. Kumba, described Ambassador Nyajok as a committed public servant who represented South Sudan in various diplomatic assignments.
He confirmed that the ministry will continue to support the late ambassador’s family.
Governor of Central Equatoria State, H.E. Rabi Mujung Emmanuel, noted that Ambassador Nyajok had contributed to South Sudan’s diplomatic work and said his service would be remembered within the government and diplomatic community.
The late Ambassador Nyajok served in several roles during his diplomatic career, engaging in bilateral and multilateral discussions on behalf of South Sudan. His work included representation at international forums and engagement in regional cooperation initiatives.
The ceremony concluded with remarks from colleagues and family members highlighting Ambassador Nyajok’s professional record and his contributions to South Sudan’s foreign relations.
