
South Sudan Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Weekly Media Briefing No. 11/2025
(JUBA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has highlighted key diplomatic activities over the past week in Briefing No. 11/2025.
On 12 November, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Amb. Monday Semaya Kumba, represented President Salva Kiir Mayardit at the 7th Transform Africa Summit in Conakry, Guinea. The summit, running from 12 to 14 November, brought African leaders together to discuss digital innovation and inclusive transformation across the continent.
Earlier, on 11 November, Minister Kumba met Hon. Mary Nawai, Minister of Youth and Sport, to discuss empowering South Sudan’s youth through skills development and vocational training. Both leaders affirmed their commitment to expanding opportunities for young people nationwide.
The Minister also met H.E. Hazem Mamdouh Fawzy, Egyptian Ambassador to South Sudan, emphasising the need to deepen bilateral cooperation and coordinate upcoming joint initiatives. Later the same day, he received Mr. Graham Maitland, Acting Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Deputy SRSG for Political Affairs at UNMISS, delivering a message from President Kiir reaffirming South Sudan’s partnership with the United Nations in promoting peace and development.
On 8 November, Minister Kumba returned from Doha, where he represented South Sudan at the Second World Summit for Social Development, contributing to global discussions on social progress and inclusion.
The Undersecretary, Hon. Amb. Agnes Adlino Orifa Oswaha, also led diplomatic initiatives. On 11 November, she delivered a message from the President to the African Union Commission, underlining South Sudan’s commitment to regional integration, peace, and cooperation with the AU.
On 7 November, the Undersecretary chaired a follow-up briefing with diplomats and senior administrators to assess progress on administrative reforms and institutional strengthening since the August consultative meeting. On 6 November, she met with the EU Ambassador-Designate and AU Commission representatives to advance preparations for the upcoming AU-EU Summit, focusing on peace, security, and sustainable development.
The Ministry extended condolences on the passing of Emmanuel Peter Sukole, Minister Plenipotentiary, recognising his decades of service to the nation.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to advancing South Sudan’s diplomatic agenda, strengthening partnerships, and promoting peace, stability and prosperity across the country.
