(Juba) – Leaders from Wonduruba Administrative Payam met on Monday with the Governor of Central Equatoria State, Lt. Gen. Rabi Mujung Emmanuel, to congratulate him on his leadership and raise urgent issues affecting their community.
The delegation included Hon. Stephen Towongo, the Payam Coordinator, local Members of Parliament, religious leaders, chiefs and representatives of women and youth groups. They conveyed their appreciation to the Governor while expressing growing concern over the lack of basic services in Wonduruba.
Among the most pressing issues raised was the urgent need for an ambulance to serve the Payam’s population, especially expectant mothers. Community leaders highlighted the danger of delays in medical care due to the lack of emergency transport, stating that lives were being lost unnecessarily as a result.
The delegation also requested the rehabilitation of the Gorom-Wonduruba Road. The road which links the Payam to Juba has become increasingly impassable, cutting off access to basic services and trade.

Repairing this route would reduce travel time and improve transportation of goods, health services and administrative access.
Youth empowerment was another central issue. Leaders advocated for the introduction of vocational training programmes to equip young people with skills such as carpentry, tailoring, agriculture and mechanics. They stressed that such initiatives could help tackle unemployment and reduce the risk of youth being drawn into armed groups.
In response, Mujung reaffirmed the State government’s commitment to development and service delivery. He said that a strategic plan was underway to promote peace, security and unity as the foundation for long term development across Central Equatoria. He assured the delegation that their concerns were legitimate and being taken into account within broader State plans.
The Governor also appealed to the people of Wonduruba to reach out to youth who had taken up arms, encourage them to return home and seek non violent solutions to their grievances. He emphasised that dialogue and reconciliation remained key to achieving lasting peace and development.
