(JUBA / YEI ) The Association for Media Development in South Sudan (AMDISS) has admitted five new media houses as members following its 23rd Annual General Meeting (AGM).
In a Press Statement extended to Access Radio news room on Friday, AMDISS, said the Secretariat presented nine membership applications for consideration. After a thorough vetting process, the Board approved five media organizations, officially welcoming them into the association.
The newly admitted members are Abyei Radio Service, Akobo FM, Access Radio (Yei), Radio Jonglei, and Voice of Reconciliation based in Jonglei State.
AMDISS congratulated the new members and expressed its commitment to working closely with them to advance media development and professionalism across South Sudan. The organization also announced plans to conduct official visits to the newly admitted media houses in the near future.
Applicants who were not successful in this round have been encouraged to review the membership requirements and reapply in future admission cycles.
AMDISS is a membership-based organization representing more than 30 media houses across South Sudan and beyond. It works to strengthen independent media and promote access to information.
Reacting to the development, Access Radio Station Manager Johnson Poru Hillary welcomed the station’s admission into AMDISS, describing it as a significant milestone.
“I have officially received confirmation of our admission as a fully registered member of AMDISS. After spending an entire year on the waiting list, this achievement is incredibly rewarding,” he said.
He noted that the membership would enhance the station’s growth and expand its professional network.
Hillary also expressed appreciation to the outgoing Board of Directors for their service and welcomed the incoming leadership.
“We are especially excited to be led by Chris Marol, the newly elected Chairperson, and we look forward to working with the entire Executive Board,” he added.
