UJoSS Donates Press Jackets to Access Radio News Desk

  (YEI RIVER COUNTY) – The Union of Journalists of South Sudan (UJoSS) has donated two pieces of “Press branded Jackets” to Access Radio news desk in Yei River County on Thursday.   UJoSS coordinator for Central Equatoria State  Mr. Buga Alex said the donation is part of UJoSS commitment to protect journalists and create visible working conditions for journalists in Yei River County and beyond.  

“I am privileged to deliver these press jackets to our journalists in Central Equatoria and Yei county in particular and its  part of a nation wide project implemented by UJoSS in all the ten states and the three administrative areas across the country. The overall purpose is also to provide visibility for journalists and we ask our journalists to use these jackets responsibly while carrying out their field work”

 

Meanwhile Johnson Poru Hillary, the station manager for Access Radio appreciated UJoSS for the great support. Poru explained that the press jackets will help Access Radio journalists news team to carry their routine media activities professionally.  

“This is a good recognition by UJoSS to Access news journalists to do their work with clear visibility and easy recognition by the public and we are very happy for this great recognition by UJoSS about our media work on the ground and together, we can bridge the gap between the newsroom and the community”

 

Poru called on UJoSS and other media organizations operating in the country to offer more technical and capacity building support for Access Radio news and program team  

“In a side meeting, we held a conversation touched on the heart of media Houses and journalists: the funding hurdles facing radio stations, capacity-building gaps for our reporters, and the vital need to rebuild trust with stakeholders. We didn’t just discuss the problems; we explored remedies for local stabilization and growth, including the power of -Community Radio in promoting dialogue with stakeholders as well”
