UNMISS Donated container at Access Radio Compound
(YEI RIVER COUNTY) -The management of Access Radio has received a consignment of items donated by the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) as part of efforts to strengthen local institutions and promote peace and good governance.
The donation, handed over on Tuesday, includes a 20-foot container, plastic chairs, and a metallic office cabin. UNMISS provided the items as it concluded operations at its field office in Yei in December 2025.
Access Radio Station Manager, Johnson Poru Hillary, confirmed receipt of the items, noting that the support will help address infrastructure gaps and improve access to information services in the area.
“We are sharing this information for transparency and accountability. We received one container, an office cupboard, plastic chairs, and an office chair. This support from UNMISS is highly appreciated. The container will be redesigned for radio content production, and we look forward to continued collaboration with UNMISS and other partners,” he said.
Hillary added that the donation comes at a crucial time as South Sudan prepares for its anticipated first-ever elections. He emphasized that Access Radio remains committed to highlighting grassroots issues and promoting good governance at the local level.
He also called on development partners to continue supporting local media institutions to enhance transparency, accountability and community development.
