(YEI RIVER COUNTY) -Staff members and listeners of Access Radio are mourning the death of former broadcaster Vivian Nadenge, who died in a plane crash on Monday.
Nadenge was a well-known voice on the station, co-hosted the Access Breakfast Show alongside Johnson Poru Hillary. She also hosted the “Children’s Voice“, a program that aired every Sunday and focused on issues affecting children.
Johnson Poru Hillary, the station manager of Access Radio, described Nadenge’s death as a significant loss to the media industry in Yei River County.
“Late Nadenge was a remarkable journalist, always ready to speak, interview, and listen. Her support for Access Radio was unwavering. Her absence will be keenly felt by her colleagues and the many listeners whose lives she touched,” Poru said.
Nadenge was among 14 people who died when a Cessna 208 Caravan aircraft, registration 5Y-NOK, operated by City Link Aviation Company crashed approximately 20 kilometers southwest of Juba.
The plane had departed Yei at 9:15 a.m. en route to Juba International Airport but lost communication at 9:43 a.m according to statement released by the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority on Monday afternoon.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to Ms. Nadenge’s family and the families of all those who died in the plane crash in Luri village of Juba County.We encourage our listeners to find strength and solace during this difficult time. ‘The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away.’ Our thoughts and prayers are with her family,” Poru added.
