(JUBA) -The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, has extended his condolences to the families of the 14 people who perished in a plane crash in Luri village, Juba County on Monday morning.
The South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority (SSCAA) confirmed the incident, stating that all passengers on board the aircraft, operated by City Aviation Company, died in the crash, including the pilot.
In a condolence message widely shared on social media, Governor Adil described the incident as tragic and a significant loss to both the state and the nation.
“It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that I learned of the tragic plane crash that was en route to Juba from Yei River County, which occurred early this morning in the Luri area of Juba County, claiming the lives of all passengers on board, without any survivors,” the statement read in part.
He noted that the tragedy has deeply affected not only the immediate families of the deceased but also communities across Central Equatoria and the country at large.
“On behalf of the people and the state government, I extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved families who have lost their loved ones, as the SSCAA undertakes thorough and swift investigations to establish the cause of the crash,” he said.
Governor Adil added that his thoughts and prayers are with the victims’ families and expressed hope that they find strength during this difficult time. He concluded by wishing eternal peace for the souls of the departed.
