
AMDISS-Condolence Message
(JUBA) -The Association for Media Development in South Sudan (AMDISS) has issued an official condolence message following the tragic Luri plane crash that occurred on April 28, 2026, claiming 14 lives, including two media professionals.
In a statement dated April 29, 2026, the media development body said it was “deeply shocked and disheartened” by the which has sent across South Sudan’s media and wider communities.
The organization identified the two deceased journalists as Vivian Nadenge Alfons of Access Radio 88.8 FM and Mama Hawa Adams of Spirit FM 99.9 FM, both described as dedicated broadcast professionals.
“We join the nation in mourning all those who perished in this fatal accident,” the statement read, adding that the loss represents “a profound blow to the entire media fraternity and South Sudan as a whole.”
The crash, which occurred in the Luri area near Juba, has drawn widespread condolences from across the country, with grief expressed within journalism circles.
AMDISS extended its sympathies to the bereaved families, friends and colleagues of the victims and expressed solidarity with the people of Greater Yei during what it described as a difficult time.
“We stand in solidarity and pray for comfort, strength and healing for all affected,” the statement noted.
Authorities have yet to release full details surrounding the cause of the crash, as investigations are expected to follow.
The organization concluded its message with a tribute to the victims, expressing hope that “the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace.”
