The donation was made through the UNMISS Yei Field Office on Saturday and was received at the Youth Association’s office in Yei town.
The computers are intended to enhance documentation, improve communication, and support secure storage of institutional data.
James Mugo, a representative from the UNMISS Field Office, highlighted the importance of equipping youth with digital tools.
“We are in an era of technology, and I have no doubt that these computers will significantly support the work of the Youth Association,” Mugo said during the handover.Youth Association Chairman Gaga Frank expressed his appreciation, calling the laptops a timely and much needed resource.
“On behalf of all the youth in Yei River County, we sincerely thank UNMISS for their continued support and for strengthening the institutional capacity of the youth office,” he said.Susan Sema, Speaker of the Youth Association, described the donation as more than just a technical contribution.
“This donation is not just about equipment. It is a vote of confidence in the work we are doing for the young people of Yei,” she stated.Acting Secretary General of the Association, Moses Arike, added that the laptops would directly improve the quality and speed of administrative work at the secretariat.
“This generous support will help us carry out better secretarial duties and improve overall office performance,” he noted.The laptops will be used for tasks such as record keeping, email correspondence, report writing, and managing event planning. Previously, the youth office struggled with limited access to digital tools, often relying on handwritten records and borrowed equipment. The donation aligns with UNMISS’s broader peacebuilding and development goals in South Sudan. UNMISS has been actively involved in community outreach across Central Equatoria State, including Yei, by supporting initiatives focused on peacebuilding, dialogue, education and institutional development.
