(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – Reconcile International, a national peace and development organisation, has donated essential equipment to support a youth cooperative in Jansuk Boma, Yei River County. The donation was made on Wednesday and presented to the New Foundation Village Saving and Loan Association (VSLA).
The contribution, funded through the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) project, included two tents with a seating capacity of 50 each and 100 plastic chairs. According to Reconcile International’s Executive Director, Rev. Peter Tibi, the items are intended to strengthen the group’s ability to organise activities and support community gatherings.
Speaking after receiving the donation, the Chairperson of the New Foundation VSLA, Mr Amos Khemis, explained that being part of a cooperative has helped members reduce stress, build unity and gain new skills.
He said the new facilities would not only make their meetings more effective but also improve the confidence and morale of members, giving them renewed hope for a better future.
Members of the VSLA expressed gratitude to both Reconcile International and Presbyterian Disaster Assistance. They said the support had restored hope among young people who had once felt forgotten and demonstrated that with encouragement and the right tools, youth can play an important role in building their communities.
Rev. Tibi emphasised that the initiative will strengthen the spirit of togetherness in Jansuk Boma and serve as a reminder that empowerment and partnership are vital for sustainable community development. He added that Reconcile International will continue to encourage local initiatives that build peace, unity and resilience.
