HAPPY INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE TO ALL PEACE LOVERS
Today, as we join the global community in observing the International Day of Peace, we, the people of Yei River County, stand united in our call for an end to hostility and violence. Let this day mark a turning point, a bold step away from conflict and a renewed commitment to healing, unity and lasting peace.
I appeal to all armed groups operating in and around Yei River County to cease hostilities immediately and embrace peaceful dialogue. The violence has caused untold suffering to our families, displaced our people, and destroyed the dreams of our youth. It is time to lay down arms and raise our voices for peace.
I also call on all communities across our county and country, regardless of ethnicity, belief or background, to come together in a spirit of reconciliation and forgiveness. Social cohesion is the foundation of lasting peace. Let us rebuild trust, promote tolerance and work together as one people with one future.
To our peace partners and humanitarian agencies, I thank you for standing with us through hardship. But I urge you now, more than ever, to deepen your support. Invest in peacebuilding programmes, education, trauma healing, livelihood recovery and inclusive development that uplifts every part of our county. A peaceful Yei is possible, but it requires action, commitment and collective effort.
Let this International Day of Peace be not only a celebration, but also a call to action. Peace is not a dream, it is our right, and together, we will achieve it.
“End conflict. Build peace. Reclaim our future.”
