(Juba) – The family of a 20 year old woman, Ayen Mijak Wour Mijak, who went missing earlier this month in the Gumbo Sherikat area of Juba, is calling on the public and media to help locate her.
Ayen was last seen on the evening of 10 June 2025 at around 5:00 PM, when she left her home, telling her family she was visiting a group of friends.
According to relatives, she never reached her destination, and her friends reportedly told the family they had not seen her or been informed of any planned visit. Since then, there has been no word from her, and her mobile phone has remained unreachable.
Angok Deng Malual, also known as Aguiryiom Malual Wieenkuach, who is Ayen’s brother in law, spoke to media to appeal to the general public, civil society groups, media houses and concerned citizens to assist in locating her. The family says they are deeply worried for her safety and wellbeing.
The family has described Ayen as a calm and responsible young woman who had not shown any signs of distress before her disappearance.
Her sudden disappearance has shocked relatives and friends, especially given the increased concerns around security in parts of Juba, including Gumbo Sherikat.
Ayen’s mother, father, and maternal uncle have all made their personal contact information available in hopes that anyone with information about her whereabouts might come forward.
They are pleading with members of the public who may have seen her on the day she went missing or who might have any relevant information to reach out.
The family has also urged media houses to continue sharing her photo and details until she is found. They emphasised that any small piece of information could be vital in tracing and bringing her home safely.
