(TEREKEKA COUNTY, CENTRAL EQUATORIA) – The Commissioner of Terekeka County, Hon. Dr Emmanuel Loku Lodu, has announced the creation of an Executive Office for Cattle Camp Chiefs as part of new measures to tackle cattle theft, regulate movement of herds and strengthen local peace efforts.
The local order issued this week sets up a five member leadership team with clear responsibilities for supervising and managing cattle camps across the county.
The newly constituted Executive Office of the Cattle Camp Chiefs includes:
Position | Name |
---|---|
Chairman | John Kenyi Loku |
Co-Chairman | Youhanna Loku Morji |
Deputy Chairman | Paul Lodu Gabu |
Secretary General | Garbino Magang Loku |
Secretary of Information | Andrea Makuach Modi |
According to the Commissioner’s directive, the office will play a central role in preventing cattle theft and reporting suspected criminals to the relevant authorities. Chiefs are expected to organise and properly identify existing cattle camps under their supervision.
The Commissioner also instructed the chiefs to ensure that those searching for stolen cattle are allowed to do so safely, without facing violence or restrictions. In addition, the office has been tasked with issuing permits for cattle movement when herds are relocated from one place to another.
Failure to comply with these new rules, the Commissioner warned, will result in strict administrative action.
In his order, Dr Loku Lodu also gave the chiefs’ office a wider mandate to work with all ten payams of the county, as well as Tijor, to implement resolutions from previous peace conferences.
These include the Ku’da Lo’dimi and Terekeka County Peace Conference agreements, which aim to promote lasting development, peace, and security in Central Equatoria and South Sudan as a whole.
The Commissioner said the new measures are intended to improve local administration, reduce conflict linked to cattle and strengthen security for communities who rely on livestock for their livelihoods.
