(JUBA CITY) – Residents in Juba gathered to mark Eid al Fitr, with community leaders urging unity, peace and shared celebration across the city.
The event took place on 20 March 2026 at Midaan Watanni Playground, where members of the Muslim community joined wider city residents to commemorate the end of Ramadan.
Organisers said the celebration centred on a message of gratitude and togetherness, drawn from the theme encouraging people to rejoice in faith and mercy above material gain. The gathering brought together families, religious leaders and local officials in a show of community cohesion.
Speakers noted that Eid al Fitr remains an important occasion in Juba, promoting compassion, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence among different communities and religions. Participants were encouraged to carry these values forward in daily life to support stability and social harmony in the city.
City authorities said such events play a role in strengthening unity and fostering cooperation among residents, as Juba continues to grow and rebuild. They added that maintaining respect across communities is key to the city’s progress.
Officials also extended greetings to the Muslim community, recognising its contribution to the social, cultural and economic life of Juba. They reaffirmed support for initiatives that encourage peaceful coexistence and shared civic values.
The celebration concluded with prayers and messages of goodwill, with residents urged to continue promoting peace and unity across Juba and beyond.
