(JUBA CITY) – The Juba City Legislative Council has reopened its first session with a focus on improving services, strengthening accountability and supporting stable urban governance in the capital.
The session resumed on 12 March 2026 in Juba, bringing together council leadership and city officials to set priorities for the next phase of municipal work. The meeting was held under a theme centred on stability, transparency, service delivery and building a prosperous city.
Officials said the Legislative Council plays a central role in shaping policy, guiding oversight and ensuring services reach residents. The reopening is expected to support efforts to improve how the city is managed as demand for services continues to rise.
City authorities outlined plans to improve urban security, respond to economic pressures and support youth participation, while also advancing sustainable development across Juba. They said stronger laws, better infrastructure and improved public services are needed to meet the needs of a growing population.
The administration also pointed to ongoing reforms aimed at improving municipal governance and building a more effective city institution.
Leaders called for closer cooperation between the executive and the legislative arms of the council, saying joint action is needed to deliver results for residents and maintain stability in the city.
