
Yei River County Adopts Five Year Development Plan/PHOTO CREDITS: Handout
(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – The Executive Council of Yei River County has adopted a five year Strategic Plan covering the period 2025 to 2029, setting out development priorities for the county in Central Equatoria State.
The plan was approved during Executive Council Meeting No 2 of 2026 held on Thursday 26 February 2026 at the County Headquarters in Yei.
County Commissioner Hon Emmanuel Taban Seme said the adoption of the plan marks an important step towards structured planning and improved governance in Yei River County.
According to county officials, the document provides a policy and implementation framework to guide service delivery, infrastructure development, economic recovery and institutional capacity across all payams.
Addressing members of the Executive Council, Commissioner Seme directed all departments to align their annual action plans, budgets and sector priorities with the approved framework. He said implementation, monitoring and accountability would be central to achieving clear and measurable results for residents.
He described the plan as a public document that belongs to the people of Yei River County and said it must be used responsibly to deliver practical development outcomes.
The Commissioner also called for stronger coordination among county departments and closer engagement with partners and stakeholders to mobilise resources and support implementation.
Members of the Executive Council reaffirmed their commitment to transparency, accountability and inclusive governance as guiding principles for delivering the 2025 to 2029 plan.
Local authorities said the strategy is expected to guide development programming in Yei River County at a time when counties across South Sudan are seeking to strengthen planning systems and improve service delivery in line with national priorities.
