(YEI RIVER COUNTY)— The Government of Yei River County has secured a three-year project aimed at strengthening peacebuilding, resilience and development efforts across the county.
The initiative, funded by the European Union Directorate-General for International Partnerships (EU–DG INTPA), will be implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) over a 30-month period from 2026 to 2028.
Speaking during a project implementation planning meeting held Wednesday at the county headquarters, Commissioner Emmanuel Taban Seme said the project, titled “Catalyzing Durable Solutions in Yei River County and Beyond,” stems from the Yei River County Strategic Plan 2025–2029, which was passed last year.
Commissioner Seme noted that the project was developed through extensive grassroots consultations, structured planning, and coordinated partnerships, all aimed at delivering tangible development results for the people of Yei.
He emphasized that his administration remains committed to achieving a peaceful and progressive Yei River County through unity, shared responsibility, and practical action. He also assured development partners of the county government’s full cooperation to ensure effective implementation of the project for the benefit of local communities.
Representing IOM at the stakeholders’ meeting, Mr. Bombe Joseph commended the county leadership for its sustained engagement and follow-up efforts that led to the realization of the project. He noted that the initiative was built on priorities identified by the county.
Mr. Joseph reaffirmed IOM’s commitment to empowering local communities, strengthening institutional capacity, and ensuring effective implementation throughout the project period.
The county government expressed appreciation for the continued collaboration with development partners and reaffirmed its readiness for future engagements aimed at enhancing resilience, stability, and sustainable development in Yei River County.
