
Juba City Council Gets New Deputy Mayor for Services / PHOTO: State Government Press
(JUBA, Central Equatoria State) – A new Deputy Mayor for Social Services and Infrastructure has been sworn in for Juba City Council, with a direct order from the Governor to work in a collegiate spirit with the existing leadership to improve service delivery.
The swearing in ceremony took place on Tuesday, 30 June 2026, presided over by Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony. The new Deputy Mayor is H.W Wol Mathok Diing.
Governor Adil stressed the need to reorganise the city through road opening and proper market set up. He urged the Juba City Council leadership to address rampant littering and ensure the city is kept clean, green and safe.
The Governor said this is a collective responsibility and called for public enlightenment on the civil role of citizens to participate in maintaining a clean, safe and green city, which remains one of the strategic pillars of his administration.
The new Deputy Mayor thanked the Governor for the trust placed in him. He pledged to work closely with what he described as the action oriented leadership of Juba City Council to render social services to the people.
The Mayor of Juba City Council, H.W Christopher Wani Sarafino Swaka, congratulated the Deputy Mayor on his appointment and welcomed him to the council.
The Mayor said they will work together in implementing the agenda of rejuvenating Juba city to meet world standards, with a strong focus on an effective environment and waste management system.
The leadership of Juba City Council committed to consolidating teamwork and a spirit of collaboration as they deliver services to the people of Juba.
