  1. Those of us living in Munuki Block C ( Mia Saba – Near Madersa Libya) have been eagerly waiting for a coordinated Waste Collection Strategy as we have not seen anyone from the Quarter Council in our area over the years. Our road has now turned into a dry stream strewn with flying plastic and at times dead dogs and cats being dumped in the place at night. Individual efforts to clean and burn the rubbish are rendered futile because after cleaning and burning the rubbish at night, the next day one finds fresh piles of garbage.

To date no one from the Quarter Council has ever visited the Block nor have we been asked to pay the mandatory applicable rates for garbage collection. If the block is too large for one person to manage, l would suggest that it be redivided so that more than one Quarter Council official is assigned to manage the area. It is to be recalled that during previous administrations of the Juba City Council some of us used to engage the City Council directly and pay from our pockets for the cleaning and removal of the garbage in trucks thus and reducing the filth. Now we are not able to do so due to the current economic challenges.

While l applaud the great work being done by Juba City Council in other locations, I herewith appeal to the leadership of Juba City Council to kindly help us keep Munuki Block C clean! Blessings Amb. BK Wani

  2. PS: l addition to my aforementioned take on the stench and flying plastics in Munuki Block C ( Mia Saba), l would like to inform that the Office of the South Sudan Diplomatic Police is in the same neighbourhood/ vicinity. This is the office that serves all the Foreign Diplomatic Missions in our country. Let us please work together to clean our image as a Sovereign Country. Shukran. Amb. BK Wani
