Yei Commissioner Seeks EU Support to Restore Electricity Supply

(YEI RIVER COUNTY) -Yei River County Commissioner Samuel Henry Malimbo has appealed to the European Union Ambassador, Per Enar Enarsson, to support the full restoration of the Yei Electricity Corporation Power Plant.

Speaking during a visit to the YECO power facility on Tuesday, Commissioner Malimbo said restoring electricity is critical for improving public services, boosting local businesses and supporting economic recovery in Yei.

He revealed that efforts are underway to complete mechanical repairs at the power station and expressed optimism that electricity generation will resume once rehabilitation works are finalised.

EU Ambassador Per Enar Enarsson commended the county leadership for prioritising the restoration of power supply, noting that reliable electricity is essential for the growth and development of Yei town.

The visit formed part of the ambassador’s broader engagement with local authorities and development partners on infrastructure and recovery initiatives in the county.

Once rehabilitated, the Yei Electricity Power Station is expected to improve access to electricity and strengthen essential services as Yei continues its recovery and development journey.
