(JUBA CITY) – The Rwandan community in Juba has pledged support for the city wide cleaning campaign and ongoing efforts to improve sanitation and public spaces in the capital.
A delegation representing the community met city officials on 12TH March 2026, where they confirmed their willingness to work with the Juba City Council on keeping the city clean and organised.
They also pointed to their role in local development, including the construction of Kopuri Primary School and plans to support the establishment of a library at the school.
Officials said the partnership is expected to strengthen community involvement in maintaining hygiene and improving living conditions across Juba. Public awareness campaigns on sanitation are already underway, with authorities encouraging residents and groups to take part.
City authorities welcomed the commitment and said cooperation with different communities is key to improving the city’s environment.
They also expressed interest in learning from Rwanda’s experience in maintaining clean urban spaces.
Plans are being considered for a joint city cleaning exercise involving the Rwandan community and local authorities.
A statement from Juba City Council said such activities could help build a shared sense of responsibility and improve the image of the capital.
