
Burial Service Emphasises Reconciliation Among Residents in Juba County/PHOTO CREDITS: County Press
(JUBA COUNTY, CENTRAL EQUATORIA) – Leaders in Juba County called for unity, cooperation and social harmony during funeral prayers for the late Mama Lona Michael Jambo, wife of Hon. Charles Nathaniel Lugala, on Tuesday, 3 February 2026.
Mama Lona passed away on 30 January 2026, and her body was brought home to the family residence in Munuki Block A on 2nd February.
Burial prayers were conducted at the family home and later at her final resting place in Gurei, opposite Nile Pet, with follow up prayers held in Munuki in the afternoon.
The event was attended by government officials, community leaders, family members and local residents.
Hon. Sallah Rajaf Bunduki, Minister of Finance and Planning and Chairperson of the Yangwara Pojulu-Tijor Community, urged youth to prioritise health and avoid harmful substances. He also called for community members to support each other in times of need.
Hon. Nyarsuk Patrick James stressed the importance of cooperation among political leaders to maintain peace and drive local development initiatives.
Juba County Commissioner Hon. Emmanuel Tete Ezbon encouraged residents to forgive one another and promote harmony within families and communities.
He urged displaced residents from Mirikiyo Boma, currently sheltering at Rokon Center, to return home, noting improved stability in the area, and cautioned against political practices that could create divisions.
Hon. Robert John Morris Lasu, Commissioner of Lainya County, highlighted peaceful coexistence as key to strengthening families and communities.
The funeral concluded with a collective call for unity, reconciliation, and social stability in honour of Mama Lona Michael Jambo.
