(BENTIU, UNITY STATE) – The Unity State Ministry of Health conducted a high level assessment of the Bentiu Medical Store to strengthen the state’s medical supply chain.
Led by Senior Director General Dr. Peter Manyar Tungpiny and senior ministry officials, the inspection focused on the facility’s storage capacity and pharmaceutical infrastructure. Officials reviewed climate-control systems to ensure vaccines and medicines remain safe, effective, and potent.
The delegation also evaluated the logistics network responsible for distributing medical supplies to health centres across Unity State. Dr. Tungpiny said reliable storage is essential for a resilient healthcare system and for effective service delivery across the state.
He stressed that ensuring every citizen has access to essential medicines and vaccines requires identifying and addressing gaps in storage and distribution systems.
According to the State Health Ministry, major areas for immediate improvement were identified, including expanding cold chain capacity and enhancing security measures to protect medical assets.
These actions form part of ongoing efforts to modernize health infrastructure, improve transparency, and strengthen emergency preparedness, according to a statement released by the ministry online platforms.
