
US Envoy Assesses South Sudan Ebola Readiness in Juba/PHOTO CREDITS: International Medical Corps
(JUBA) – The United States Ambassador to South Sudan, Michael J. Adler, has visited an infectious disease unit supported by International Medical Corps in Juba to assess the country’s Ebola preparedness and readiness. The visit included a review of International Medical Corps’ efforts to strengthen response capacity. Preparation and training were noted as essential to containing and stopping Ebola outbreaks.
Dr. Kediende Chong, Executive Director of the National Public Health Institute, joined Ambassador Adler during the visit.
International Medical Corps stated that its South Sudan team hosted the Ambassador and Dr. Chong at the facility. The organisation noted that the US Department of State supports its Ebola preparedness work across Central Africa.
International Medical Corps expressed gratitude to Ambassador Adler for recognising and helping bring attention to the critical work underway in South Sudan.
