Governor Adil shakes hand with the national chaiperosn of HIV Commission
(JUBA) – Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony has urged the South Sudan HIV/AIDS Commission to intensify efforts in civic education, prevention programmes, and anti-stigma campaigns to help curb the spread of HIV/AIDS across the country.
Governor Adil said strengthening awareness and prevention initiatives would play a critical role in reducing new infections and combating discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS at both national and grassroots levels.
The Governor made the remarks on Friday during a courtesy visit by the Chairperson of the South Sudan AIDS Commission, Dr Justine Kawac K. Makuei, at the State Government Secretariat in Juba.
During the meeting, Dr Makuei updated the Governor on the Commission’s ongoing activities and programmes being implemented at both national and state levels.
Governor Adil commended the strong working relationship between the national and Central Equatoria State HIV/AIDS commissions and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting their work.
He also called for enhanced collaboration in mobilising resources to strengthen HIV/AIDS response programmes across the state.
“The fight against HIV/AIDS requires collective action and sustained investment,” Adil noted, encouraging the Commission to engage national leaders and development partners to secure the funding and resources needed to expand prevention, treatment, and awareness initiatives.
The South Sudan AIDS Commission delegation included Deputy Chairperson Dr Ayum Dor and the Chairperson of the Central Equatoria State HIV/AIDS Commission, Marino Michael Sebit.
The visit underscored the importance of partnership and coordinated efforts in addressing HIV/AIDS challenges and reducing stigma within communities across Central Equatoria State.
