(JUBA) – The Ministry of Trade and Industry has engaged South Sudanese manufacturers in discussions aimed at addressing challenges facing the country’s manufacturing sector and strengthening local production.
During the meeting on Thursday, the Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr. Labanya Margaret Mathya, urged manufacturers to halt the production of toxic products that could endanger public health and harm the environment.
Dr. Mathya stressed the importance of adhering to national safety and quality standards, noting that responsible manufacturing is essential for consumer protection and sustainable industrial growth.
She further called on manufacturers to embrace best practices that promote quality, safety, and environmental responsibility, as the government works to develop a stronger and more competitive manufacturing sector in South Sudan.
The meeting also provided a platform for industry stakeholders to discuss key challenges affecting production and explore ways to enhance the contribution of local industries to the country’s economic development.
