(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – The Commissioner of Yei River County, Samuel Henry Malimbo, has urged closer coordination among health authorities and humanitarian partners to strengthen Ebola preparedness efforts.
His remarks came after a briefing from the county’s Ebola response team on measures to prevent and manage a potential outbreak on Monday.
Malimbo emphasized the importance of continued vigilance, cooperation and commitment to protecting communities from public health risks.
He also called for greater local involvement, urging organizations to prioritize qualified residents, especially youth when recruiting Ebola response roles in health facilities such as Yei Civil Hospital.
Meanwhile, the County Health Director Simon Sebit Musoga praised the administration’s support, noting that collaboration between local authorities, health workers and partners is key to effective emergency response.
The call comes as South Sudan steps up surveillance and preparedness efforts following Ebola cases reported in the neighboring Uganda and Democratic Republic of Congo.
