(KIGALI, RWANDA) – South Sudan’s Yei Joint Stars FC made a dream start to their CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Qualifiers 2026 campaign, defeating Eritrean side Denden FC 3-0 in a dominant opening performance in Kigali on Friday.
The South Sudanese champions wasted no time asserting their authority, with Poni Esther Wani finding the back of the net just two minutes into the match to hand the Super Queens an early lead and set the tone for an impressive display.
After taking a one-goal advantage into the break, Yei Joint Stars returned for the second half with renewed determination. Forward Aluka Grace stole the spotlight with a superb brace, scoring in the 52nd and 74th minutes to put the result beyond doubt and secure all three points for her side.
The convincing victory marks a significant statement from the Super Queens as they seek to make their mark in the regional competition. Their disciplined defending, attacking intent, and clinical finishing proved too much for Denden FC, who struggled to contain the South Sudanese champions throughout the encounter.
The result gives Yei Joint Stars a perfect start to the tournament and boosts confidence ahead of their upcoming fixtures in the CECAFA qualification campaign.
Following the victory, the team safely returned to their hotel, where players and technical staff celebrated a memorable opening-day triumph before turning their focus to the next challenge.
With momentum on their side and championship ambitions firmly in sight, the Super Queens have sent an early warning to their rivals that they are ready to compete for regional glory.
The journey has begun in style for the Super Queens, whose commanding display has raised hopes of a successful run in the CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Qualifiers.
