(YEI RIVER COUNTY) — The Commissioner of Yei River County, Emmanuel Taban Seme, officially presided over the launch and handover of a newly rehabilitated Mental Health Ward at Yei Civil Hospital on Monday, marking an important step in improving access to specialized healthcare services in the county.
The rehabilitation project was supported by Malteser International as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the health sector and improve the quality of care for patients in Yei and surrounding communities.
Simaya Ladu James, Project Manager at Malteser International, expressed appreciation to the Yei River County Government for its cooperation during the project. He noted that the renovated ward will significantly improve how mental health patients are treated and managed.
Commissioner Emmanuel Taban Seme welcomed the development and described the project as part of the county’s broader strategic plan to strengthen healthcare services. He emphasized that the improved facility will create a better working environment for health workers while expanding the hospital’s ability to handle mental health cases.
He also highlighted the importance of Yei Civil Hospital as a major health facility serving not only residents of Yei River County but also patients from neighboring areas.
The rehabilitation is expected to improve mental health services and patient care in the region, addressing a critical but often underserved area of healthcare.
